How Much Does a Website Cost in Ireland? (2026 Price Guide)

A small business website in Ireland costs anywhere from about €300 to €15,000 to build. Most sole traders and small firms don't need anything near the top of that range. A five to ten page site, built properly, usually lands between €500 and €2,500.

This guide breaks the cost into two parts: what you pay once to get the site built, and what you pay every year to keep it running. It also covers the extras people forget, so you can compare quotes on the same terms.

For context, our own prices are €599 (Starter), €899 (Business) and €1,499 (Elite), all fixed and one-off. We use them as examples below, but the ranges apply to any provider.

The short answer: typical price ranges

These are rough ranges based on what small Irish businesses tend to be quoted. They aren't fixed rules. A freelancer at the low end can do great work, and an agency at the top can still miss the point.

Who builds itTypical build priceGood for
DIY (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress.com)€0 upfront, plus €15–€40 a monthVery tight budgets, people with time to learn
Freelancer€400–€1,500Brochure sites, sole traders
Small agency€1,500–€4,000Businesses wanting more pages or design work
Large agency€5,000–€15,000+Custom builds, large shops, complex systems

What drives the price up or down

Two sites can look similar and cost very different amounts. These are the main reasons.

  • ✓Number of pages. Each page needs design, copy and checking. Going from 5 to 15 pages can double the work.
  • ✓Who writes the text. Writing good copy takes time. If you supply it, the price drops. If the designer writes it, expect €150 to €500 extra.
  • ✓Online payments. A shop with card payments, stock and delivery settings is a bigger job than a brochure site.
  • ✓Bookings. Linking an existing system is cheap. Building a custom one is not.
  • ✓Custom design. A design built from a blank page costs more than one adapted from a proven layout.
  • ✓Photos. Professional photography is extra, often €200 to €600 for a half day.
  • ✓Revisions. Unlimited changes sound nice but they get priced in somewhere.

What you get at each price level

Under €500, you're usually getting a template with your details dropped in. It can work for a sole trader who just needs a phone number online. Check who owns the domain and whether hosting is included.

Between €500 and €1,500, you should get a mobile-friendly site of 5 to 10 pages, a contact form, basic SEO set-up and help with your Google Business Profile. This is where most trades, cafés and small offices land.

Between €1,500 and €4,000, expect more design time, more pages, copywriting, and perhaps a booking system or a small shop.

Above €5,000, you're paying for custom design, larger shops, integrations with other software, or a team of people working on it.

Yearly running costs

This is the part people forget. A website has costs every year after launch, whoever built it.

ItemTypical yearly costNotes
Domain name (.ie or .com)€15–€30Registered in your name
Hosting and SSL€60–€300Often included in year one
Business emailAbout €7 per user per monthe.g. Google Workspace or Microsoft 365
Maintenance and edits€0–€600Our care plan is €29 a month and covers hosting
Website builder plan (DIY)€180–€480Monthly fee if you use Wix or similar

Hidden costs to ask about before you sign

Ask every provider these questions in writing. A good one will answer without fuss.

  • ✓Is VAT included in the price?
  • ✓Who owns the domain, and is it in my name?
  • ✓What does hosting cost after year one?
  • ✓How many rounds of changes are included?
  • ✓Is there a monthly fee, and what happens if I stop paying it?
  • ✓Can I move the site to someone else later?
  • ✓Are stock photos, plugins or themes charged separately?

Is a cheap website worth it?

It can be. Price isn't the only signal of quality. What matters is whether the site loads fast on a phone, tells people what you do and where, and makes it easy to call or send a quote request.

A cheap site is a bad deal when it locks you in, hides costs or can't be found on Google. Before you pay a deposit, ask to see three live sites the person built in the last year and test them on your phone.

We keep our prices low by working to a tight process, using a proven design system and not running an office or sales team. You can see our full breakdown on the prices page.

Paying in stages

Most web designers in Ireland ask for a deposit before starting, often 30% to 50%, with the rest due at launch. Be wary of anyone who wants the full amount upfront for a new site. Equally, don't expect a designer to start with no deposit at all.

We take 50% to book your slot and 50% when you're happy with the finished site and it goes live. You can split either payment if that helps.

Online shops cost more, and why

An online shop needs product pages, a basket, card payments, delivery rules, stock levels, order emails and returns information. Each one has to be set up and tested. That's why a shop usually starts around €1,500 rather than €500.

Payment providers such as Stripe or PayPal also take a fee on each sale, usually a small percentage plus a few cent per transaction. Factor that into your prices before launch.

Our Elite package at €1,499 covers a small shop with card payments, delivery and stock settings, and a training session so you can add products yourself.

How to budget for your first website

For a sole trader or small business, a sensible first-year budget is the build price plus €100 to €400 for running costs. After that, plan for €100 to €400 a year, or a monthly care plan if you'd rather not deal with it yourself.

If cash flow is tight, ask about payment plans. We let customers split any package into three monthly payments.
